Another trip for the Bucket List.
Audi Hamilton Island Race Week wraps up food, fashion and serious sail boats in one big luxury bow. From Kylie Kwong wontons to Collette Dinnigan gowns it was a sensory feast. The weather was balmy, the sea was warm and the hardest decision I had to make was whether to go on a yacht or a paddle board.
Here’s just some of my highlights.
I am so over the cold weather. Ugg boots, track pants – enough.
I embraced the spike in temperature and jumped in the ocean. I stayed at Qualia which is full of epic aquatic locations including an incredible inifinty pool that meets the ocean’s horizon. I turned into an action doll – swam, snorkelled and paddle boarded everyday. I was lucky enough to be joined by a whale, which was a little bit scary at first but then such a special, uplifting experience.
I was already a mad fan of The Chef but nothing could have prepared me for Kylie Kwong - The Woman – she’s extraordinary.
I was fortunate to spend some time with her and what a true force she is – warm, generous and kind.
I also got to eat her food and when I say eat I mean EAT. She cooked an Asian banquet that included fresh mud crab in chilli and black bean, her famous prawn wontons and a duck in orange that I may never get over.
She has a new cook book which I’m about to put into high rotation - Simple Chinese Cooking Class - CLICK TO BUY
I don’t want to get all Beyonce on you but Super Yachts really are All That. I went whale watching on Audi’s Masteka 2 which is a $22 million dollar boat with four floors and a pool. At just over 122 square feet it was the largest on the island, the biggest vessel on charter in the Southern Hemisphere and honestly bigger than most people’s houses.
