Award season kicked off on Friday with the 16th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards. Long frocks ruled the red carpet as did navy, black, white and muted metallics. My favourites: Emma Stone in Balenciaga, Emily Blunt in Azzaro and a pregnant Natalie Portman in Gianfranco Ferre. The Kardashians brought the OTT and Helena Bonham Carter brought the kooky.

Fergie is the first female to star in a commercial for US icon soft drink Dr Pepper – a cherry and pepper flavoured cola. So not sold on the outfit – what is with the Adams Family vibe??  But I do kinda love the new chocolate brown waves. Very Jane Russell. Do you like it?

Sometimes it really is all about something for nothing. Or not that much. These sexy, on-trend dresses aren’t going to stay in your wardrobe forever but they will make you next party fabulous.
