It’s not every day you get to mix drinks with Dita Von Teese.
But mix ‘em I did when I hosted a special event for Cointreau on Monday night.
In Sydney as an ambassador for the classic spirit she showed me how to make her favourite new cocktail – it’s light and fizzy – and the trick to shaking a mean Cosmopolitan.
Here’s her personal creation in collaboration with Luke Hanzlicek, Head Mixologist at The Victoria Room (right).
It’s a flirty twist (of course) on the traditional Cointreau Fizz. Love the use of rose water.
The Dita Fizz.
90ml Ruby red grapefruit juice
7ml rose water
6 mint leaves
Top with soda
1. Pour Cointreau into a tumbler glass.
2. Fill glass to the top with ice.
3. Add grapefruit juice and rose water.
4. Slap mint gently on the bar top and add to the glass.
6. Top with soda water.
7. Garnish with mint and two straws.
The Vintage Cosmopolitan.
Dita also whipped up one of my all-time favourite drinks – The Cosmopolitan. What I especially loved was the vintage cocktail glasses she used.
Tip: Raid your local op shop or markets for some retro glassware (they don’t even need to match) to present your Cosmo in a new -or should that be old, way.
