Chelsea’s Mars Bar Slice.

Like Paula, I’m a super keen baker. I find it relaxing…and delicious. Mars Bar Slice may not be the prettiest looking slice ever (it’s the Picnic of the baking world) but it tastes out of this world and is just about the easiest to make. Ever.

Ingredients.

4 x 53g Mars Bars, chopped
100g unsalted butter, chopped
3 cups Rice Bubbles
200g milk chocolate, chopped
2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Method.

1. Lightly grease an 18 x 28cm slice pan. Line base and 2 long sides with baking paper, extending paper 2cm above pan edge.

2. In a medium saucepan, stir Mars Bars and butter together over a low heat for 5-8 minutes until melted. Mixture may look separated when melting the Mars Bars and butter, but will come back together after stirring through the Rice Bubbles.

3. Place Rice Bubbles in large bowl. Blend in chocolate mixture until combined. Press firmly into prepared pan. Chill until firm.

My tip: Avoid leaving the slice in the fridge for too long or your slice will be more crunchy than chewy. I recommend about 20 minutes.

4. Melt chocolate with oil in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Spread evenly over the slice. Chill until set (about 40 minutes –again, don’t over-refrigerate). Cut into squares. Store in an airtight container in a cool place.

Variations:

Vanilla Mars Bars – you can swap regular Mars Bars for Vanilla Mars Bars. There’s not much difference in the end taste.

Dark Chocolate – for a less sweet version, use dark chocolate on top.

Coco Pops –using Coco Pops instead or Rice Bubbles will give your slice a richer chocolate flavour.

Yummy Chelsea! I ADORE no-bake recipes….not because I don’t love baking, one of my FAVOURITE things to do is make pastry, puff, choux, you name it….but being a busy Mum there are just SO many occasions when you simply DO NOT HAVE TIME to turn the oven on and go the whole hog…. I also adore one-bowl recipes….best one bowl banana muffins ever?! ——–> http://phoodie.wordpress.com/2012/07/15/banana-and-coconut-muffins/
