Check out this mini-doco on the infamous Studio 54 night club. A place that witnessed more celebrity scandals than any paparazzi with a long lens. In this video there are some fascinating interviews – an almost unrecognisable Michael Jackson (when he was handsome), Truman Capote (so eccentric), Steve Rubell (the owner) and Grace Jones (just fabulous).
But the best bit is an interview with one of the bus boys who worked at the club and had sex with many of its famous clientele. He talks about liaisons with Freddy Mercury, Rock Hudson and a “famous fashion designer who is renowned for his boxer shorts”.
My guess is Calvin Klein, who in more recent news is throwing his partner a lavish 21st birthday next month.
Oh to have been there. Oh to have had a video camera. Even for just one night.
