Carl Kapp makes lovely, dreamy clothes. The End.
Last nights show was Kapp’s biggest to date and he showed a collection worthy of the large space. It was full of fantastic billowing gowns, cigarette pants in pastels and structured shifts.
I took my ten year old daughter to her first fashion show and couldn’t have hoped for a better introduction. This show was how it should be done: slick, pretty and original.
The Hair.
The powerful hair was influenced by Girl With The Dragon Tattoo starlet Rooney Mara and her signature inky black bob. The look played on the idea of strength portrayed in the collision themed collection. We all want to look like Rooney – totally cool.
The Make-up.
Make-up by Rebecca Prior from Napoleon Perdis.
Helmut Newton was the inspiration behind the softly sculptured face. A mixture of strong masculinity and flirty femininity was played up through the face. The cheeks were contoured with blush and bronzer, which was applied under the cheek bone for extra definition.
Hero Products: Long Black Mascara; Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Skin Primer – all from Napoleon Perdis.
The Nails.
Nails by Sherie Pollard for CND.
Designer Carl Kapp specifically requested the models don a traditional French manicure with a twist. The look featured a black tip with a contrasting nude base.
