This summer I want you to start a hair wardrobe.
Every woman needs a series of styles (that you can do yourself) that become your go-to looks.
You can have a ponytail, a straight blow-dry but you need one or two tricks. A couple of styles that make people say “Did you do that yourself?”
Fashion Week is over for another season. Here are four of my favourite hair looks from the shows.
Copy them shamlessly.
This nautical-inspired look from Kinder Aggugini S/S ’13 is part Little Mermaid, part Game of Thrones. What I love is the volume at the crown, the placement of the ponytail (low) and the twisted, back comb braid.
Get The Look.
Step 1. Apply L’Oreal Tecni.art Volume Lift and rough dry hair with a hairdryer to create volume.
Step 2. Gently tease hair through the lengths to create a messy look.
Step 3. Using L’Oreal Tecni.art Pli Course to give your hair extra texture, wrap pieces of hair around the lengths, pinning with a bobby pin as you go, in an effortless criss-cross manner to make it look like a fallen out braid. Make sure you wrap a section near the nape of the neck to create a ponytail effect.
Step 4. Give your hair hold and shine with a spritz of L’Oreal Tecni.art Liss Control and L’Oreal Infinium Hairspray.

Let’s bring the BeeHive back. Why not? Always loved Bridget Bardot’s signature style particularly in summer with a bikini. This modern take on her classic up-do from Moschino S/S ’13 was beautiful and pretty faithful to the original look. Dress this style down – it’s not a night time only thing. Best worn irreverently and often.

Step 1. Apply Pantene Pro-V Volume Mousse to the lengths of freshly washed hair before roughly blow-drying.
Step 2. Create a soft curl with a curling tong and pin the curls while they cool.
Step 3. Side part your hair and gently brush out the curls. You still want definition in your curls so don’t over-brush.
Step 4. Neatly backcomb the roots of the hair around the crown that sixties vibe and pin the sides and top section at the back of the head.
Step 5. Keep your hairstyle in place with Pantene Pro-V Stay Smooth Hairspray.

The New Bun.
Think fluffy, carefree hair that looks like you haven’t even tried. We loved the soft messy buns from Bottega Veneta S/S ’13 because they’re so easy to do.

Step 1. Roughly blow-dry hair using a diffuser.
Step 2. Create a clean centre part and apply Redken Powder Grip 03 Mattifying Hair Powder at the roots before gently backcombing random pieces.
Step 3. Gather hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck and tie with elastic.
Step 4. Backcomb the ponytail with a boar-bristle brush. Twist into a low messy chignon using your fingers and pin as needed; leave some wispy pieces out in front.
Step 5. Spray Redken Powder Refresh 01 Dry Shampoo, particularly around the hairline, for a dry, airy texture. Use your fingers to rough it up and remove any white powder residue.

The Showgirl Side-ytail.
Jenny Packham’s S/S ’13 glamourous twist on the classic ponytail was soft, feminine and evening-worthy. Love how the front connects to the side twist which connects to the ponytail. It’s very Vegas showgirl in the 70′s.

Step 1. Apply TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Control Mousse through towel-dried hair and blow-dry with the help of a Mason Pearson Brush.
Step 2. Create a deep side part on the left and gently backcomb around the crown for added texture. Set with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray.
Step 3. Create a sweeping faux fringe to the right ear twisting inwards as you go to create a loose curl along the base of the neck to the left ear.
Step 4. Secure with bobby pins and style the ends into a low ponytail.
Step 5. Spray the pony with TRESemmé Thermal Creatives Heat Tamer Protective Spray and use a blow dryer to soften and straighten the style.
